A favorite of health, wellness and beauty professionals for more than 40 years, the Therabath Petite Spa Paraffin Bath provides one of the most effective methods of applying heat therapy and delivering fast, drug-free relief of painful arthritis, bursitis and chronic joint inflammation. Penetrating paraffin wax heat therapy relaxes sore, tired muscles, relieves stiffness and muscle spasms. Twice as beneficial, hot paraffin wax therapy stimulates circulation as well as moisturizing and nourishing dry skin.
Indications are Useful Treatments:
Symptomatic relief of pain caused by medically diagnosed arthritis, bursitis, and chronic joint inflammation. Relaxes muscles, relieves stiffness and muscle spasms and stimulates circulation. May be prescribed for post-fracture or post-dislocation treatment, for sprains, strains, for restriction of motion due to scar tissue, and for other conditions for which heat is indicated. Commonly used prior to therapeutic exercise and massage. May be prescribed in certain peripheral vascular diseases. Consult your physician if you have certain question
Contraindications Refer To Inadvisable Uses:
Should not used in the presence of open cuts or wounds, inflammatory skin conditions, neoplasm (growths). Do not use in cases of peripheral vascular disease where circulation is impaired, acute inflammation, or when sensation of the extremity is reduced or absent (such as in some cases of diabetes). If there is any question of about peripheral vascular disease or decreased sensation of the extremities, consult a physician or physical therapist before using. Should not be used on areas subject to hemorrhaging or in cases involving abnormal sensitivity to heat. Discontinue use if dermatitis due to paraffin sensitivity occurs. Discontinue use if wax feels too hot or cool, which would indicate health problems with the user. Do not allow children or those with severe physical disabilities to use the device
Paraffin Bath Hand Therapy:
1. Cleanse hands with warm water and soap, and then mist with Sanitizing Spray.
2. Apply a light coat of Intensive Hydrating Cream.
3. Slowly immerse the hand in the paraffin wax. Hold fingers slightly apart so that the paraffin surrounds each finger.
4. Then slowly remove the hand and wait about five seconds, until the paraffin no longer appears shiny, before re-dipping. The idea is to dip in and out of the Petite Spa, building up layers of paraffin.
5. Repeat three to five times. For relief of joint pain and stiffness, dip 10 to 15 times to form a very thick glove.
6. Optional: Cover the hand with a protective plastic liner and then slip on a Thinsulate-lined mitt. This retains heat for a longer treatment.
7. Allow the paraffin to remain in place until the heat goes away. Because you will grow accustomed to the heat, it may seem like the heat is gone before it actually is.
8. When ready to remove the paraffin, first remove the mitt if you are using one. Then wiggle the fingers slightly to loosen the paraffin, and slide the paraffin off along with the plastic liner. Discard used paraffin and plastic liner.
9. If desired, apply a second coat of lotion, working into cuticles and dry spots.
